CM Yogi Reviews Magh Mela 2026 Preparations: Focus on Cleanliness, Security, and Devotee Comfort
CM Yogi Adityanath reviews Magh Mela 2026 preparations in Prayagraj, emphasizing cleanliness, security, and a grand Ramanandacharya memorial.
While praising the administration for the successful conduct of the Paush Purnima bath, the CM set high benchmarks for the upcoming dates.
Focus on River Purity and Sanitation
A core pillar of the CM’s directives was the maintenance of the Ganga’s purity. He issued several specific instructions to preserve the river's sanctity:
Expansion of Ghats: To prevent overcrowding, the CM ordered the expansion of bathing areas and circulating zones.
Eco-friendly Practices: Officials were told to ensure that no plastic bags, clothes, or puja materials are disposed of in the river.
Prohibition of Soap: Devotees are to be sensitized against using soap or detergents while bathing to keep the water Nirmal (pure).
CM Yogi displayed a strong focus on the welfare of the ground staff, directing that Swachhagrahis (sanitation workers) receive their honorariums on time. He further instructed that educational facilities be provided for their children.
To streamline movement, the Municipal Corporation was tasked with removing illegal encroachments and hoardings from roads and pathways. Regarding security, the CM ordered:
Constant Patrols: Police must maintain high visibility to prevent any untoward incidents.
Zero Tolerance: A strict ban on the sale of intoxicants within the Mela area and a crackdown on anti-social elements.
Crowd Management: Special focus on "Sangam Nose," the primary point of confluence where crowd pressure is highest.
In a significant cultural announcement, the Chief Minister directed the administration to identify land for a grand memorial dedicated to Jagadguru Ramanandacharya, responding to requests from the seer community.
Furthermore, in view of the harsh winter, the CM mandated the distribution of blankets and the setup of adequate bonfires (Alav) for the needy. He concluded by reminding officers to maintain a respectful and helpful attitude toward the visiting saints and devotees.
