DRDO Schedules High Caliber Bomb Test In Panchkula Residents Advised Stay Indoors

Haryana:A high-level safety alert has been sounded for several villages around the Ramgarh region in Panchkula, following an official administrative directive ahead of a high-caliber military explosive trial. The Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL), a strategic wing functioning under India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), is scheduled to conduct a high-powered bomb test on Sunday morning, May 31, 2026.

According to defense scientists, the intensive testing window is locked between 10:30 AM and 12:30 PM. Given the sheer scale and high-caliber nature of the ordnance being tested, officials have mapped out a substantial hazard zone. Projections indicate that the blast pressure could propel heavy shrapnel and fragments up to 1.5 kilometers vertically into the air, creating a dangerous splinter radius extending nearly 2 kilometers across the ground from the epicenter.

In a proactive communication addressed to the Panchkula Deputy Commissioner, TBRL Technology Director C. Sarkar emphasized absolute civilian restriction during the two-hour window. Acting swiftly on the defense advisory, local administration has ordered the residents of Bhanu and Billa villages—the two civilian zones sitting directly inside the primary danger perimeter—to remain completely indoors.  Furthermore, a general high-vigilance advisory has been extended to nearby clusters including Asrewali, Naggal, Moginand, Kishangarh, TMV Colony, and suburban sectors overseen by the Ramgarh Municipal Council. Local police and civil authorities are coordinating closely to secure the perimeter fences, manage peripheral traffic, and ensure absolute compliance with the indoor safety mandate before the countdown begins. Residents have been urged to secure external property, bring pets inside, and avoid any transit near the 5,000-acre firing range facility until the defense laboratory gives an official all-clear signal.
