Delhi Metro Shuts Seventeen Key Stations For Second Day Amid Growing CJP Protest

New Delhi : For the second consecutive day, public transit across central Delhi faced major disruptions as the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) suspended passenger entry and exit operations at 17 key stations due to security instructions from law enforcement agencies. The restrictions were enforced as massive crowds assembled in response to the ongoing youth agitation led by the Cockroach Jantar Party (CJP) demanding accountability over competitive examination paper leaks.

The temporary shutdowns severely impacted daily commuters across the national capital during peak transit hours. According to official updates released by DMRC, the affected stations include Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Patel Chowk, Lok Kalyan Marg, Janpath, Mandi House, Barakhamba Road, Supreme Court, Seva Teerth, RAM Ashram Marg, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh, Shivaji Stadium, and Jhandewalan. While entry and exit gates remained closed to the public, transit authorities maintained interchange facility services at critical junction stations, including Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, and Central Secretariat, to minimize network-wide passenger dislocation.

The heightened security measures come amid intensifying demonstrations centered around Jantar Mantar and Parliament Street, where protesters continued their sit-in rally seeking the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Security forces, including local police and paramilitary units, deployed extensive barricading along major arterial corridors to prevent crowds from advancing toward restricted administrative zones. The station closures led to severe overcrowding at nearby operational hubs, bus stops, and auto-rickshaw stands as stranded passengers sought alternative transport options. Transit authorities stated that full operational services will be restored across all closed stations immediately upon receiving security clearance from local law enforcement.
