Fresh Violence Near Jantar Mantar Leaves Senior Police Officer Injured Following Stone Pelting

New Delhi: Tensions flared in central Delhi as fresh clashes broke out near Jantar Mantar and Tolstoy Marg, where unidentified miscreants resorted to heavy stone-pelting at security forces. The violence resulted in injuries to multiple police personnel, including Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Jai Prakash and ACP Vivek Bhagat, who were rushed to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

According to senior police officials, the confrontation erupted during an ongoing demonstration over national examination irregularities when groups of protesters attempted to breach security cordons near key administrative intersections. As law enforcement personnel deployed barricades to prevent the crowd from advancing toward restricted government zones, several individuals among the crowd began throwing stones and glass bottles at personnel. ACP Jai Prakash sustained a forehead injury after being struck by a flying projectile while performing law and order duties near the site.

Security forces responded by deploying limited tear gas shells and utilizing brief baton charges to disperse the aggressive crowd and restore order along major thoroughfares. Additional police units and paramilitary personnel, including the Rapid Action Force (RAF), were immediately called in to reinforce security across central Delhi.

Delhi Police has registered multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) under relevant statutory provisions covering assault on public servants, rioting, and damage to public property. Authorities are extensively reviewing CCTV footage, drone captures, and viral social media clips to identify and apprehend the miscreants responsible for inciting the violence. Security remains heavily bolstered across the capital city to prevent any further escalation.
