Massive Fire Erupts at Ivy County High-Rise in Noida
A major fire broke out in a 12th-floor apartment at Ivy County in Noida’s Sector 75; emergency teams rescued a trapped family.
Nodia: Panic gripped the residents of Sector 75 on Friday morning after a massive fire broke out on the 12th floor of a tower at the premium Ivy County residential complex. Thick plumes of black smoke were seen billowing into the sky from the 28-storey building, triggering chaos and a swift, full-scale evacuation of the premises.
The local fire department received a distress call around 7:00 AM regarding the blaze, which severely impacted flat numbers 1203 and 1204. Responding immediately, the emergency services rushed nearly six fire tenders along with hydraulic platforms and advanced rescue equipment to the spot. A couple and their children, who were trapped inside one of the burning flats, were safely pulled out by firefighters using specialized breathing apparatus.
Dozens of other residents quickly fled the high-rise tower using emergency staircases as a team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) arrived to reinforce the localized firefighting operations. Thanks to the rapid response, no casualties or major injuries were reported. Taking cognisance of the emergency, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed senior district officials to personally monitor the situation and expedite all relief efforts.
While the exact cause of the inferno is still under official investigation, Gautam Buddh Nagar Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Kumar stated that preliminary findings suspect either a short circuit in the air conditioning unit or an unattended puja candle sparked the initial blaze.
This incident occurred alongside another separate commercial fire in nearby Sector 52 on the same morning, stretching local emergency services thin but highlighting the critical importance of building fire safety protocols.
