St. Joseph's College Host CISCE UP Regional Swimming Championship 2026 in Prayagraj

Prayagraj : St. Joseph’s College, Prayagraj, hosted the CISCE Uttar Pradesh Regional Swimming Competition 2026, bringing together young aquatic athletes across Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19 categories for both boys and girls.

The grand event commenced with a solemn Bible reading and opening prayer led by teacher Mrs. Veronica Paul, followed by a spiritual hymn performed by the college choir. Master of Ceremonies Mrs. Daisy Daniel formally introduced the dignitaries, welcoming Chief Guest Rev. Fr. Melvin D'Souza, Principal of St. Joseph's School, Naini, and Guest of Honour Dr. Zareen Rizvi, CISCE Zonal Coordinator. Teacher Mrs. Amrita Higgins presented a formal introduction of the Chief Guest.

Rev. Fr. Walter D’Silva, Principal of St. Joseph’s College, welcomed Chief Guest Rev. Fr. Melvin D'Souza with a green sapling. In his address, Fr. D'Silva warmly welcomed athletes, coaches, and sports officials representing all 10 participating CISCE zones across Uttar Pradesh.

The opening ceremony featured a ceremonial "Swim Pass" performed by the Prayagraj Zone swimmers, demonstrating various swimming techniques and strokes. Addressing the gathering, Rev. Fr. Melvin D'Souza commended the host institution for its seamless organization, applauded the dedication of the coaches, and encouraged the athletes to strive for excellence. Fr. D'Silva subsequently presented a memento to the Chief Guest as a token of gratitude.

The Chief Guest administered the official sportsmanship oath to all participating swimmers before formally declaring the CISCE Regional Swimming Competition open, followed by the National Anthem. Ending the inaugural ceremony, Mrs. Daisy Daniel extended her best wishes to all competing teams for fair play and peak performance.
