Adarsh Swasthya Sansthans To Receive Modern X-Ray And Ultrasound Equipment

Shimla: In a major move to revolutionize rural healthcare accessibility, Himachal Pradesh Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil announced that the state's model healthcare centers, known as Adarsh Swasthya Sansthans, will soon be equipped with advanced X-ray and ultrasound machines.

Chairing a high-level meeting of the Himachal Pradesh Medical Services Corporation Limited (HPMSCL), the Health Minister stated that the procurement process for these vital diagnostic tools has been finalized.

The state government is actively establishing 70 Adarsh Swasthya Sansthans across the region—allocating one facility to each Assembly constituency, alongside two units each for the remote belts of Lahaul-Spiti and Bharmaur.  The installation of these modern diagnostic systems aims to alleviate the immense financial and physical burden on rural residents. Previously, patients in far-flung hilly terrains were forced to travel grueling distances to major cities just to access basic radiology and imaging services.

"Our primary focus under Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu's leadership is delivering quality, modernized healthcare directly to people's doorsteps," Dr. Shandil emphasized. "We are systematically phasing out medical infrastructure and machinery that are 15 to 20 years old, replacing them with state-of-the-art technological alternatives."To back these sweeping modernizations, the state has earmarked an expansive investment plan of approximately ₹3,000 crore dedicated entirely to healthcare upgrades and high-tech machinery procurement.

This follows an expenditure of ₹1,110 crore over the last two years. The Health Minister directed administrative officials to execute the rollouts with utmost transparency, while fast-tracking adjacent diagnostic projects, including full-room digital radiography, high-resolution color Doppler ultrasound units, and the integration of total laboratory automation systems across government medical colleges.
