HP Agri Machinery Portal Opens Today: Apply for 50% Farm Equipment Subsidy via Transparent Lottery
Himachal Pradesh farmers can now apply on the Agri Machinery Portal from July 31 to August 20, 2026, to receive up to 50% subsidy on modern agricultural equipment via a transparent lottery system.
Shimla : In a major boost to modernizing mountain agriculture, the Himachal Pradesh Government has officially activated the Agri Machinery Portal today, Friday, July 31. Under the Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization for the 2026–27 fiscal year, the state is offering up to 50% subsidy on modern, compact farm equipment tailored specifically for hilly terrain, including power tillers and power weeders.
According to an official spokesperson from the Agriculture Department, eligible farmers can submit their applications online through the department’s Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) portal starting today. The application window will remain open until August 20, 2026. To maintain absolute fairness and prevent favoritism, beneficiary selection will take place on August 21, 2026, through an automated and fully transparent lottery system.
The maximum 50 percent financial subsidy is specially directed toward small and marginal farmers, as well as women, Scheduled Caste (SC), and Scheduled Tribe (ST) agricultural workers. By lowering entry costs, the initiative aims to make advanced, labor-saving machinery accessible to traditionally underserved farming groups across the state's rural belts.
Agriculture officials highlighted that standard, heavy agricultural machinery is unsuited for Himachal Pradesh’s fragmented hill terraces. Consequently, the government is prioritizing lightweight, small-scale machinery. Mechanization helps complete seasonal farm chores faster, improves crop quality, lowers labor expenses, and facilitates multi-cropping—ultimately boosting farm revenue across mountain communities. Interested farmers are advised to submit their applications on the official DBT portal before the August 20 deadline.
