Medanta Neuro Conclave 2026: Experts Highlight Rising Neurological Risks in Youth and Emphasize Early Diagnosis

Lucknow : Leading neurologists, neurosurgeons, and neuro-critical care specialists gathered at Medanta Lucknow for the Medanta Neuro Conclave 2026 to address the increasing incidence of neurological disorders and strokes, particularly among younger demographics.

Global Burden of Disease (GBD) studies indicate that neurological conditions affect over 3.4 billion people worldwide, remaining a leading cause of disability. In India, approximately 18 to 20 lakh new stroke cases are reported annually, with 1 in 4 adults over 25 facing stroke risks during their lifetime. Experts noted that high blood pressure—affecting nearly 25% of adults in Uttar Pradesh—alongside diabetes, obesity, sedentary lifestyles, and tobacco use remain major contributors. Crucially, specialists emphasized that up to 80% of strokes can be prevented through timely medical screening and lifestyle modifications.

The conclave was spearheaded by senior directors including Dr. Anup Kumar Thakkar (Neurology), Dr. Ratish Juyal (Neurology), Dr. Ravi Shankar (Neurosurgery), Dr. Kamlesh Singh Bhaisora (Neurosurgery), and Dr. Rohit Agarwal (Interventional Radiology). Discussions focused on recent advancements in stroke care, epilepsy management, movement disorders, neuro-oncology, neuro-imaging, and minimally invasive brain and spine surgeries.

Dr. Rakesh Kapoor, Medical Director and Director of Urology & Kidney Transplant Surgery at Medanta Lucknow, stressed the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration, early diagnosis, and rapid access to specialized stroke care centers to reduce the burden of neurological diseases across Uttar Pradesh.
