Prayagraj : St. Joseph's College, Prayagraj, hosted the grand closing ceremony of the three-day CISCE UP Regional Swimming Championship 2026 on Sunday. The three-day event brought together young athletes from across Uttar Pradesh to foster discipline, athletic excellence, and sportsmanship.
Sister Lissy C.J., Principal of St. Mary's Convent Inter College, graced the occasion as the chief guest, alongside Dr. Zarin Rizvi, Zonal Coordinator of CISCE, who served as the guest of honor. The program was organized under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Walter d'Silva, Principal of St. Joseph's College, and School Coordinator Jyoti Dubey, with Joanna Robinson conducting the ceremony.
The ceremony commenced with a welcome prayer, scripture reading, and a choral performance by the school choir. Rev. Fr. Walter d'Silva formally welcomed the dignitaries, presenting Sister Lissy C.J. with a sapling to symbolize environmental awareness and Dr. Zareen Rizvi with a floral bouquet, followed by an address highlighting the role of sports in youth development.
The highlight of the event was the prize distribution ceremony honoring top performers across multiple age brackets. Student-athletes from Prayagraj, Lucknow North, Lucknow South, Agra, Bareilly, Ghaziabad, and other regional zones competed. Standout performers from Prayagraj included Vaidehi Choudhary (1st place, U-19 Girls 50m Freestyle), Toshi Purwar (1st place, U-17 Girls 50m Freestyle), and Atharv Singh (1st place, U-14 Boys 50m Backstroke).
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Daisy Daniels, expressing appreciation to the guests, faculty, organizers, and competitors, followed by the national anthem.
