Delhi Traffic Cop Tragically Killed In Speeding Car Hit And Run

New Delhi: In a tragic incident highlighting the severe risks faced by traffic personnel on the road, a Delhi Traffic Police head constable was killed in a hit-and-run accident. The officer was struck by a speeding vehicle while actively conducting speed enforcement operations along the National Highway 44 (NH-44) near the Singhu border area.  

The deceased officer has been identified as Head Constable Amit, a resident of Sonipat in neighboring Haryana, who is survived by his wife and two children. The incident took place at approximately 6:00 PM when Amit, alongside a Narela circle enforcement team comprising an Assistant Sub-Inspector and another head constable, was setting up speed checking protocols to curb highway violations.

A speeding vehicle rammed violently into Amit before accelerating away from the scene.  Key Developments:Immediate Response: Grievously injured, Amit was rushed by fellow officers to the Satyawadi Raja Harish Chandra Hospital in Narela, where doctors tragically declared him dead during treatment.  

Police Action: The Alipur Police Station immediately registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) dealing with rash driving and causing death by negligence.  Suspects Traced: Utilizing targeted highway CCTV footage and vehicular tracking, a special team successfully identified the runaway vehicle. Two individuals, identified as Kuldeep and Neeraj, have been formally apprehended for further investigation.

 Senior Delhi Police officials expressed deep grief over the loss of Head Constable Amit, emphasizing that the department is moving strictly to ensure maximum legal punishment for the offenders while fast-tracking essential departmental assistance to support the grieving family during this difficult time.
