Mandatory e-KYC and e-Shram Registration Announced for Himachal Construction Workers to Retain Welfare Benefits

Hamirpur : Registered construction workers in Himachal Pradesh must complete their e-KYC and e-Shram portal registration immediately to ensure uninterrupted access to state welfare programs. According to an official directive issued by the Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, failing to complete these updates on time will render workers ineligible for 14 major welfare schemes offered by the state and central governments.

Nardev Singh Kanwar, Chairman of the Welfare Board, stated that the mandatory verification drive is designed to enhance transparency and ensure benefits reach authentic, eligible beneficiaries without delay or leakage. He urged all registered workers across the state to complete the process promptly to avoid losing out on financial support and social security cover.

To complete the e-KYC verification, workers need to visit their nearest Labor Welfare Officer's office with their valid identification documents. Officers will perform identity verification on-site to finalize the e-KYC entry free of charge.

For e-Shram portal registration, workers can apply directly via smartphone or computer on the official web portal. Workers who require technical assistance can visit a local Common Service Center (Lok Mitra Kendra) to complete their application. Key requirements for completing the registration process include valid government-issued identification, an active mobile number linked to official records, bank account details, and supporting identity documentation.

To maximize coverage, the Welfare Board has instructed regional Labor Welfare Officers to launch localized awareness drives and prioritize completing registrations across all districts. Board leadership emphasized that no eligible laborer should lose government benefits due to a lack of information.

Official figures indicate that approximately 98,000 workers in Himachal Pradesh have already completed the e-KYC process. However, because total worker registrations exceed this figure, authorities are advising the remaining workforce to present their documents at the earliest opportunity.
