Mother And Two Daughters Tragically Die In Devastating House Fire In Delhis Lodhi Colony
A devastating house fire in Delhis Lodhi Colony tragically claimed the lives of a mother and her two young daughters.
New Delhi : A fatal blaze engulfed a residence in Central Delhi's Lodhi Colony on Tuesday, claiming the lives of a woman and her two young daughters due to severe burn injuries and smoke inhalation.
The incident occurred inside a multi-story residential building located within the government quarters zone of Lodhi Colony. According to preliminary reports from the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), the control room received an emergency call alerting them to thick smoke and flames billowing from a second-floor apartment. Four fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the site to contain the blaze and carry out rescue operations.
Firefighting personnel encountered dense smoke and intense heat upon entering the premises. Despite rapid firefighting measures, responders discovered the three victims unconscious inside a rear bedroom where they had been trapped by spreading flames and suffocating fumes. The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical staff declared them brought dead.
Preliminary investigations by the Delhi Police and forensic teams suggest an electrical short circuit in an air conditioning unit or main wiring box as the probable cause of the fire. The flames spread rapidly to adjacent wooden furniture and household fixtures, filling the enclosed apartment with carbon monoxide before the occupants could evacuate.
Local police authorities have cordoned off the affected area and registered a case to determine the exact sequence of events leading to the disaster. Senior administrative officials visited the site to assess safety protocols and extend emergency support to the surviving family members. Forensic experts continue to examine the site to rule out any foul play.
