IndiGo Kuwait-Delhi Flight Diverted Over Hijack Message

Ahmedabad: A routine international flight turned into a high-stakes security operation on Friday after a handwritten threat sparked a major hijack and bomb scare. An IndiGo flight en route from Kuwait to Delhi was forced to execute an emergency landing at Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport following the discovery of a chilling note onboard.

A Note on a Tissue Paper
The alarm was sounded mid-flight when cabin crew discovered a handwritten note on a piece of tissue paper. The message reportedly contained explicit threats to hijack the aircraft and "blow it up." Adhering to strict aviation security protocols, the pilots immediately contacted Air Traffic Control (ATC) and requested an emergency diversion to the nearest available airport, Ahmedabad.

Evacuation and Tactical Screening
Upon touchdown, the aircraft was taxied to an isolated bay where security agencies, including the bomb disposal squad and local police, had already cordoned off the area. All 180 passengers were evacuated immediately via emergency exits and moved to a secure zone.

The security response was comprehensive. Every passenger underwent individual frisking and identification checks, while the aircraft’s cabin and cargo hold were subjected to a multi-layered sweep. Sniffer dogs and electronic scanners were deployed to inspect every piece of luggage.

Current Investigation Status
As of the latest reports, no explosives or suspicious devices have been found. While the threat is currently suspected to be a hoax, authorities are not taking any chances. Security agencies are investigating the handwriting on the note and questioning passengers to identify the individual responsible for the note. Flight operations at Ahmedabad remained largely unaffected, though the specific aircraft remains grounded for final clearance.
