Congress Demands High-Level Inquiry and ₹25 Lakh Relief Following Minor’s Suspicious Death in Prayagraj
Congress leaders visit bereaved family in Prayagraj, demanding a high-level probe and ₹25 lakh compensation for the minor’s death.
Prayagraj : A high-level delegation of the Congress Party, led by Gangapar District President Ashfaq Ahmed, visited the Birkaji Gram Sabha on Thursday to stand in solidarity with a grieving family following the tragic and suspicious death of a 14-year-old girl.
The victim, identified as Vibha Kumari, was reportedly found hanging in a bathroom under circumstances that have sparked local outrage and calls for a thorough criminal investigation. The Congress delegation met with the deceased’s father, Vishwanath Gautam, and other relatives to offer their condolences and gather firsthand accounts of the incident.
During the visit, Ashfaq Ahmed launched a scathing critique of the current state of law and order. He asserted that the incident is a grim reflection of an "autocratic" system where crime continues to surge without effective checks.
"The frequency of these tragedies under the BJP regime is alarming," Ahmed stated while addressing the media at the victim's residence. "There is a complete lack of effective control over criminal incidents. We are witnessing a spate of crimes where the most vulnerable members of society are the victims, and the administration remains a silent spectator."
The Congress Party has officially placed a set of demands before the district administration to ensure the family receives justice. Key demands include:
A High-Level Investigation: An immediate, transparent probe into the suspicious circumstances surrounding Vibha Kumari’s death to identify any foul play.
Financial Assistance: An ex-gratia payment of Rs 25 lakh to the bereaved family to assist them during this period of immense loss.
Stringent Legal Action: The swift identification and prosecution of any individuals found guilty in connection with the case.
The visit was marked by a large turnout of party leadership, signaling the Congress Party's intent to pressure the government on issues of public safety. The delegation included several prominent figures, such as Assembly in-charge Devraj Upadhyay, District Vice President Nisha Singh, and District General Secretary Sunil Pandey.
Other attendees included Sufia Bano, Block President Dr. Amar Singh Patel, and a host of local leaders including Pradeep Pandey, Mohd. Farooq, and Ritesh Pasi. Female leaders and activists, including Urmila Singh, Pushpa Chaudhary, and Manju Devi, were also present to support the victim's mother and sisters.

As the community waits for the post-mortem reports and initial police findings, the Congress Party has vowed to continue its protest until the Gautam family receives a formal commitment from the administration regarding their safety and the requested financial aid.
The atmosphere in Birkaji remains tense as local residents join the call for accountability, echoing the sentiments of the delegation that "justice delayed is justice denied."
