GSVM Medical College Receives ₹50 Lakh Tech Boost
GSVM Medical College Kanpur receives ₹50 lakh in advanced eye care equipment from Sight Savers and SBI Mutual Fund for free treatment.
Kanpur : In a significant move to bolster public healthcare and provide world-class ophthalmic treatment to the underprivileged, the GSVM Medical College’s Ophthalmology Department has been equipped with state-of-the-art medical machinery worth ₹50 lakh. The equipment was formally handed over by the Sight Savers Organization and SBI Mutual Fund in a ceremony held in the presence of College Principal, Dr. Sanjay Kala.
Historically, patients at the GSVM Ophthalmology OPD faced grueling wait times and long queues. The primary bottleneck was a shortage of modern diagnostic and surgical tools. With the induction of these six critical high-tech instruments, the department expects a drastic reduction in waiting periods, ensuring that patients receive timely care without financial burden.
Beyond patient care, the donation serves as a massive boost for academic excellence. Dr. Parvez Khan, Head of the Ophthalmology Department, emphasized that these tools will revolutionize the training of Junior Residents (JR).
"Our PG students and residents can now undergo hands-on training with global-standard technology. This ensures that the next generation of eye surgeons is well-equipped to handle complex cases with precision," Dr. Khan stated.
Expressing his gratitude, Principal Dr. Sanjay Kala lauded the philanthropic gesture. He highlighted that patients traveling from remote areas would now have access to free, high-end surgical facilities that were previously only available in expensive private hospitals. He further encouraged other organizations to step forward and contribute to public health infrastructure, noting that collective faculty efforts have always prioritized patient welfare.
