Naypyidaw : In a significant diplomatic move, India’s Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, attended the swearing-in ceremony of Myanmar’s new President, Min Aung Hlaing. The visit, spanning April 8–11, underscores India's "Neighborhood First" policy and its evolving strategic engagement with Myanmar.

A key highlight of the visit was the formal exchange of letters to extend the bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the trade of Urad and Tur dal (pulses). Minister Singh emphasized that agriculture and food security remain vital pillars of the investment partnership between the two nations.

Furthermore, India committed to grassroots development by signing an MoU for the construction of a new school, reinforcing its role as a key developmental partner in the region.

The visit commenced with a "Deck Reception" aboard the Indian Navy’s survey vessel, INS Sandhayak, in Yangon. Minister Singh noted that the ship's presence aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Vision SAGAR, promoting security and growth for all in the Indian Ocean.
