Dr. S. Jaishankar pushes for UNSC reforms and agile foreign policy at Munich Security Conference 2026, meeting G7 and G4 leaders.
Key Strategic Highlights:
Maritime Security: India emphasized its role as a "First Responded," focusing on securing sea lines of communication, enhancing port security, and contributing to robust submarine cable infrastructure.
G4 Collaboration: In a meeting with representatives from Germany, Japan, and Brazil, the "G4" nations discussed "Reformed Multilateralism" to ensure international institutions stay relevant.
Global Security & De-risking: Discussions with German counterpart Johann Wadephul highlighted how India-Germany and India-EU ties are pivotal in de-risking global supply chains and strengthening strategic autonomy.
Economic Diplomacy: The meetings gained additional weight following India’s recent Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the 27-nation European Union.
"Our agile and dynamic foreign policy is designed to meet the demands of multipolarity," Dr. Jaishankar stated, noting that India and the G7 share significant common interests in global stability.
The visit underscored India’s commitment to being a stabilizing force in international security while pushing for a more inclusive global governance structure.
