Twisha Sharma Case: Specialized Medical Panel Performs Court-Ordered Second Autopsy

BHOPAL — In a major breakthrough in the high-profile Twisha Sharma death investigation, a specialized four-member forensic team from a premier national medical institute has conducted a second autopsy on the model-turned-actor's body in Bhopal following directives from the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

Twisha, 33, was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her marital home in Bhopal's Katara Hills on May 12, just months after her marriage to advocate Samarth Singh. Her family moved the high court alleging profound gaps and procedural oversights in the local state police's initial post-mortem, raising concerns over institutional bias due to the accused husband’s background as a lawyer and his mother being a retired judicial officer.

The head of the national forensic department stated that while the physical examination is complete, compiling the final definitive report will take more time. The central medical board has preserved specific samples for advanced laboratory analysis, including histopathology and viscera tests, to ascertain the exact cause of death. The team has returned to the national capital with comprehensive photographic, video graphic, and written records.

Following the procedural conclusion, Twisha’s body was handed over to her family for last rites, performed by her brother, Major Harshit Sharma. Her family expressed immense satisfaction and relief regarding the transparency maintained by the central medical board.

Meanwhile, judicial developments continue to escalate rapidly. The Supreme Court of India took suo motu cognizance of the case on Monday, backing the state government's decision to hand over the entire probe to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Concurrently, a local court has remanded the prime accused, Samarth Singh, to seven days of police custody for intensive interrogation regarding dowry harassment and evidence tampering.
