Delhi Traffic Police Issues Comprehensive Advisory As Farmer Protests Cause Major Citywide Diversions
Delhi Traffic Police imposes key road diversions and travel restrictions near central areas due to ongoing farmer protest demonstrations.
New Delhi : The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a detailed travel advisory enforcing vehicular diversions and road closures across key parts of central Delhi following a large-scale demonstration organized by farmer groups at Kisan Ghat. Authorities announced that traffic movement and access parameters are being actively managed around the central corridor to prevent severe gridlock and guarantee public safety.
Traffic diversions have been implemented on a need-basis near major junctions, including Delhi Gate, Rajghat Crossing, Guru Nanak Chowk, Shantivan Chowk, the Rajghat DTC Depot, and the IP Flyover stretch. Commuters traveling through central Delhi have been strongly advised to avoid Satyagrah Marg, Velodrome Road, Rajghat DTC Depot Road, and the Rajghat DTC Bypass Road, where heavy congestion and barricades remain in place. Police personnel have been deployed in strength across these arterial intersections to regulate vehicle flow and guide motorists onto alternative routes.
The advisory urges citizens heading toward the Indira Gandhi International Airport, major railway stations, and inter-state bus terminals to factor in extra travel time and plan their journeys well in advance. Commuters are also encouraged to utilize real-time GPS navigation applications and prioritize public transit, particularly the Delhi Metro network, to bypass surface road blockages. Senior traffic officials emphasized that roadside parking near protest zones remains strictly prohibited to prevent additional bottle-necks. Restrictions are expected to remain active until the demonstration concludes and peaceful traffic flow is fully restored across the national capital.
