At ARF and EAS Summits, India Champions Zero-Tolerance Policy on Terror and Global Supply Chain Resilience

Manila : External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar reinforced India’s strategic priorities for the Indo-Pacific during the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Ministerial Meeting and the 21st East Asia Summit (EAS) held in the Philippine capital. Speaking at these high-level forums, India placed a sharp focus on adopting an uncompromising stance against terrorism and safeguarding global supply chains amidst rising geopolitical volatility.

In his address at the ARF, Dr. Jaishankar expressed deep concern over growing global complexities and reiterated India's policy of absolute zero tolerance toward terrorism. He emphasized that terror acts must face severe consequences and called for blocking the financial channels that sustain terrorist networks. Welcoming the 'Manila Plan of Action', he noted that its five pillars align seamlessly with India's vision for the Indo-Pacific, highlighting India's active role in promoting the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI).

At the East Asia Summit, the minister alerted world leaders to the structural shifts and global uncertainties impacting stability. He cautioned that political and security considerations are increasingly overshadowing economic efficiency, severely disrupting global supply chains.

"In these times of turbulence, energy, food, and health security can no longer be taken for granted," Dr. Jaishankar remarked, advocating for strict adherence to international maritime laws. He also referenced the year 2026 as the 'ASEAN-India Year of Maritime Cooperation', calling it a timely effort to ensure regional peace.

On the sidelines of the Manila meetings, Dr. Jaishankar maintained intensive diplomatic engagement—holding bilateral discussions with ASEAN counterparts, meeting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, conferring with Quad colleagues, and raising safety concerns regarding Indian seafarers in the Black Sea with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
