Malviya Nagar Hotel Cook Arrested Over Deadly Delhi Fire Tragedies

New Delhi:In a major breakthrough following the devastating blaze in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar, local police have arrested a hotel cook whose alleged negligence led to a fire that claimed 21 lives.

The tragedy, which tore through a multi-story hotel building, sent shockwaves across the capital. Investigative teams and forensic experts tracking the origin of the inferno concluded that unsafe practices in the kitchen area triggered the initial spark. According to authorities, the suspect left a high-pressure commercial gas burner unattended near highly flammable materials, causing a massive explosion that quickly engulfed the upper floors.

"The cook's sheer disregard for basic safety protocols trapped dozens of guests inside within minutes," a senior police official stated. "Emergency exits were also partially blocked by storage boxes, but the root cause was entirely human error in the kitchen."

Panicked residents found themselves trapped as thick smoke filled the narrow stairwells. While fire tenders managed to rescue over fifteen people, twenty-one individuals succumbed to asphyxiation and severe burn injuries.

The accused faces multiple charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including culpable homicide not amounting to murder and causing death by negligence.
