Prayagraj : In a proactive move to ensure industrial safety and environmental compliance, District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma conducted a thorough inspection of the IFFCO Urea Plant in Phulpur this Wednesday. The visit focused on balancing production efficiency with the welfare of the workforce and the protection of the surrounding ecosystem.
During his visit, the District Magistrate toured the Ammonia Plant, Urea Plant, and the cutting-edge Nano Urea Production Unit. He engaged with technical officials to assess the plant’s overall capacity and the growing market demand for Nano Urea.
Emphasizing the future of agriculture, DM Verma directed officials to intensify awareness campaigns regarding the benefits of Nano Urea. Key safety evaluations included:
Disaster Management: Review of emergency shutdown systems and leak detection mechanisms.
Worker Safety: Instructions were issued to provide regular safety training and ensure the availability of high-quality gas masks for all on-site laborers.
A significant portion of the inspection was dedicated to the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP). The DM issued strict mandates to ensure that industrial activities do not adversely affect the local community:
- Emission Control: Implementation of real-time monitoring to keep air emissions within permissible limits.
- Water Purification: A directive to ensure zero untreated liquid discharge, with purification mandatory before release.
- Green Initiatives: A call for intensive tree plantation drives to expand the green belt around the facility.
"The local population must not suffer due to any solid or liquid waste generated by the plant," DM Verma stated, highlighting the necessity of maintaining a balance between industrial growth and public health.
Beyond technical compliance, the District Magistrate focused on the daily working conditions of the staff. He issued immediate instructions to the management to ensure the seamless availability of canteen facilities, first aid/medical centers, and clean drinking water for all workers.
The inspection was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Sub-Collector (Phulpur) Juhi Prasad, Tehsildar Suresh Chandra, and IFFCO Unit Head PK Singh, along with senior technical staff.
