Bankok / Yangoon : In a joint diplomatic effort by Indian missions in Myanmar and Thailand, three more Indian citizens held by illegal online job scam networks in the Myawaddy region of Myanmar were rescued and safely repatriated to India.

The Indian Embassy in Myanmar confirmed the update on social media platform X, detailing that the individuals were safely evacuated across the border into Thailand before being flown back home with the assistance of the Indian Embassy in Bangkok.

Total Rescues: Since the first cases emerged in July 2022 through August 2026, a total of 2,521 Indian citizens have been freed from illegal cyber centers in the region.

Diplomatic Support: The repatriation involved close coordination between authorities in Myanmar and Thailand, alongside rapid documentation processing by embassy officials in Bangkok.

Advisory Reissued: The Indian Embassy reiterated its strict travel and recruitment advisory, warning citizens to thoroughly verify job offers in Southeast Asia to avoid falling victim to cyber slavery networks.
