"Every Sister Must Reach Her Brother Safely": Prayagraj DM Chairs High-Level Transport Meeting for Rakshabandhan

Prayagraj : To ensure smooth travel and robust security for women during the upcoming Rakshabandhan festival, District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma presided over an inter-departmental coordination meeting in Prayagraj. Emphasizing safety and administrative efficiency, the DM stated that ensuring every sister reaches her brother safely remains the administration's top responsibility.

During the meeting, officials addressed the anticipated rush on major routes, focusing heavily on public transport availability, health assistance, and anti-teasing security measures at major transit hubs.

Key Measures and Operational Strategy

Fleet Deployment: Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) Regional Manager confirmed that 610 buses will operate actively, with additional standby buses ready to handle surge capacity.

High-Demand Routes: Maximum passenger traffic is expected along the Prayagraj–Jaunpur, Prayagraj–Varanasi, and Prayagraj–Pratapgarh corridors.

Security & Vigilance: Anti-Romeo Squads and dedicated female police personnel will deploy across all major bus terminals to prevent harassment.

Traffic Control: Additional traffic police personnel will manage congested areas and choke points to prevent gridlock.

Medical Support: Dedicated health teams will be stationed at bus stands to provide immediate medical aid to commuters.

Appealing to roadways staff and citizens for full cooperation, DM Manish Kumar Verma reminded officials to execute their duties with empathy and dignity. "This is not merely routine transport management, but a noble service of reuniting sisters with their brothers," he noted.

The coordination meeting saw attendance from senior officials, including the Additional District Magistrate (City), Superintendent of Police (Traffic), UPSRTC Regional Manager, ARTO (Enforcement), and representatives from private bus operator associations.
