UWA Secures Approval for Mumbai Campus Ahead of Fall 2026 Opening

Lucknow : The University of Western Australia (UWA), a renowned global top 100 institution and member of Australia’s Group of Eight, has secured formal authorization from the University Grants Commission (UGC) to launch its branch campus in Mumbai. Receiving the official Letter of Approval clears the runway for the university to welcome its inaugural student body in September 2026.

This milestone enables Indian students to earn a fully recognized Australian university degree without relocating abroad. UWA leadership highlighted that the new location bridges global academic rigor with Mumbai’s thriving commercial, technological, and financial ecosystem. The campus aims to foster robust cross-border educational ties, expanding high-level academic opportunities while keeping students connected to local industry networks.

Prior to starting formal academic sessions, the Mumbai campus will launch "AI Jumpstart," a specialized early-learning initiative. This program is tailored to build practical literacy in artificial intelligence, encouraging responsible technological application and preparing students for modern workforce dynamics. Comprehensive orientation events will run alongside the program, allowing the incoming cohort to connect with peers, familiarize themselves with the campus environment, and adapt to UWA's collaborative learning framework.
