Voorburg : Actor, sports entrepreneur, and co-founder of the European T20 Premier League (ETPL), Abhishek Bachchan, has officially kicked off the inaugural season of the tournament. Commemorating the opening day of ETPL 2026, Bachchan shared an update from the ground alongside the official league trophy, captioned: "Here we go! European T20 League."

The launch transitions a months-long strategic vision of bringing high-caliber professional T20 cricket to non-traditional European markets into a live, operational league.

ETPL is established as a joint venture between Cricket Ireland and Rules Global (Rules X). The league was co-founded and is co-owned by Abhishek Bachchan alongside Rules Global partners Saurav Banerjee, Priyanka Kaul, and Dhiraj Malhotra. The tournament’s framework is actively developed in strategic partnership with Cricket Ireland, Cricket Scotland, and the Royal Dutch Cricket Association (KNCB).

For Bachchan, who maintains long-standing ownership stakes in Indian sports franchises across kabaddi and football, the ETPL represents his primary expansion into international cricket governance.
