St. Joseph's College Prayagraj marks 77th Republic Day with alumni from the 1976 batch and Chief Guest Rear Admiral Sandeep Beecha.
Prayagraj : St. Joseph’s College (SJC) celebrated India’s 77th Republic Day on January 26, 2026, with a grand ceremony that bridged the school’s prestigious past with its vibrant future. The event was marked by the presence of distinguished alumni from the Batch of 1976, who returned to their alma mater to celebrate their Golden Jubilee.
The proceedings began with a spiritual opening, including a Bible reading and a prayer hymn by the College Choir. Principal Rev. Fr. Walter D’Silva welcomed the Chief Guest, Rear Admiral Sandeep Beecha (Retd.), and the Guest of Honour, Mr. Rajeev Bhadauria, both prominent members of the 1976 batch. Rear Admiral Beecha, a decorated naval officer and former Commandant of the Naval War College, was hailed as a model of discipline for the students.
A major highlight of the day was the March Past, where the Golden Jubilee alumni marched alongside current students, saluting the tricolour with impeccable synchronisation. The National Flag was hoisted amid the resonant strains of the National Anthem, followed by heart-warming cultural performances from the Kindergarten section and a stirring rendition of "Ae Watan" by the College Choir.
In his address, Principal D’Silva urged the "Josephians" to internalize the constitutional values of duty and responsibility. Chief Guest Rear Admiral Beecha encouraged the boys to become sensitive, aware citizens, reflecting on the historical weight of the day. The celebration concluded with the College Anthem, reinforcing the spirit of "Fide et Labore."
