Yogi Adityanath Slams Samajwadi Party Over Alleged Hanumangarhi Temple Namaz Incident
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath demands an apology from the Samajwadi Party for allegedly permitting namaz at Ayodhya's Hanumangarhi temple.
Ayodhya : Launching a scathing political attack on rival parties, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday accused the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Congress of deeply disrespecting the Hindu faith.
Speaking at a public rally in Bikapur, Adityanath alleged that previous non-BJP governments committed a "sin" by organizing and permitting namaz to be offered at the sacred Hanumangarhi temple steps in Ayodhya, demanding an immediate public apology from the opposition leaders.
The Chief Minister challenged the opposition's stance on religious equality by drawing a sharp contrast. "They had namaz offered at Hanumangarhi. Can anyone imagine the Hanuman Chalisa being recited inside the Jama Masjid? Can any government,
the Samajwadi Party, or the Congress ever make that happen?" Adityanath asked the gathering, framing the historical incident as severe appeasement politics.
His remarks reportedly referenced a controversial event from November 2003 under the Mulayam Singh Yadav administration when attempts were made to hold prayers near the shrine's perimeter.
The high-pitched address took place during Adityanath's visit to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for 217 development projects valued at over 432 crore rupees in the region.
Beyond the immediate religious controversy, the Chief Minister claimed that the opposition had historically created hurdles for the construction of the Ram Temple and questioned the very existence of Lord Ram.
He emphasized that under the current "double-engine" BJP government, Ayodhya has transformed from a neglected town into a world-class spiritual capital.
Highlighting new infrastructure projects like the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport and multiple major pedestrian pathways, Adityanath asserted that the opposition remains deeply uncomfortable with the holy city’s structural revival because they failed to deliver growth during their own governing tenures.
