Two dead, 15-20 passengers injured after bus collides with tanker on Agra-Lucknow Expressway
two people died and nearly twenty passengers were injured after a double-decker bus collided with a vehicle on the expressway.
Agra : A tragic early morning collision on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway left two people dead and between 15 to 20 passengers injured after a private double-decker sleeper bus collided with a heavy vehicle and instantly burst into flames.
The accident occurred during the early hours around 2:30 AM near milestone 46. The double-decker bus, carrying roughly 40 to 45 passengers, was en route from Kanpur to Gurugram when it struck a large vehicle that had reportedly overturned on the highway just moments prior.
The impact of the crash was severe enough to trigger a massive short circuit, causing a fast-moving fire that quickly engulfed the entire vehicle. Sleeping passengers were jolted awake to smoke and chaos. To escape the burning cabin, panicked commuters had to smash the rear glass window panes and jump out onto the asphalt.
Local authorities and emergency response units rushed to the site shortly after being alerted by passersby. Firefighters battled the intense blaze for nearly three hours before bringing it completely under control.
According to local administrative and police officials, the collision claimed the lives of two individuals, identified as the driver and the conductor of the bus. Meanwhile, the injured passengers received immediate first aid on the spot from medical teams. Around 15 of the victims, some with severe burn injuries, were rushed via ambulances to nearby medical colleges and trauma centers for advanced treatment.
While the horrific crash briefly halted the flow of traffic on the busy expressway, highway police successfully managed the congestion, cleared the charred wreckage using heavy cranes, and fully restored normal vehicle movement by morning.
