Dr. Jaishankar Unveils Vision for India-Africa Forum Summit IV

New Delhi : In a significant boost to Global South cooperation, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar officially launched the logo, theme, and website for the upcoming India-Africa Forum Summit-IV (IAFS-IV). During the ceremony held on April 23 in the capital, the Minister reaffirmed that Africa remains a "central pillar" of India’s foreign policy, rooted in mutual respect and shared prosperity.

The summit, scheduled to take place in New Delhi from May 28 to 31, 2026, features a powerful new visual identity. The official logo prominently displays a lion, superimposed over the interconnected maps of India and Africa. This imagery symbolizes the shared strength, courage, and deep-rooted historical ties between the two regions.

  • The theme for the 2026 summit has been set as:
  • "Sustainable Partnership, Shared Vision"

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Jaishankar described the current phase of bilateral ties as a "season of renewal." Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he emphasized that the fourth edition of the summit would be more ambitious and future-oriented than ever before.

"The upcoming summit will shape the next phase of our partnership—one that is more inclusive and focused on the challenges of tomorrow," Jaishankar noted. He highlighted that the platform allows both regions to exchange best practices and scale successful developmental experiences.

Beyond Traditional Diplomacy

  • The Minister highlighted several key areas where the India-Africa bond is evolving:
  • Digital & Fintech: Leveraging India’s "Digital Stack" to help reshape African economies.
  • Innovation: Collaborative research and startup ecosystems.
  • Global Governance: Continued advocacy for Africa’s rightful place in global decision-making bodies.

Dr. Jaishankar reminded the audience of India’s successful push to include the African Union (AU) as a permanent member of the G20 during its 2023 Presidency, calling it a testament to India's commitment to African representation.

With an expanding diplomatic footprint across the continent, India is positioning itself as a reliable development partner rather than just a donor. As New Delhi prepares to host African heads of state in May 2026, the message is clear: India and Africa are not just partners in growth, but partners in shaping a more equitable world order.
