New twenty-one crore bridge approved over Nakki rivulet in Jaswan-Pragpur constituency

Pragpur: In a major boost to regional connectivity and rural infrastructure, local MLA Bikram Singh announced that a state-of-the-art bridge worth ₹21.63 crore will be constructed over the Nakki rivulet in the Jaswan-Pragpur assembly constituency. The long-awaited project has received formal administrative approval and financial sanction, paving the way for immediate preliminary work.

The construction of this high-level bridge is expected to solve a decade-long commuting bottleneck for thousands of residents across multiple village panchayats. During the peak monsoon season, the swelling waters of the Nakki rivulet frequently isolate several local hamlets, disrupting daily commutes, school attendance, and access to emergency medical services.

"This ₹21.63-crore allocation underscores our commitment to rural development. The new bridge will not only provide all-weather road connectivity but will also significantly boost the local agrarian economy by linking remote farms to central markets," the MLA stated during a public address.

The Public Works Department (PWD) has been directed to expedite the tendering process to ensure that structural construction commences before the next heavy rainy spell. According to the initial engineering design, the project will feature a durable, multi-span reinforced concrete layout equipped with modern safety barriers and widened approach roads on both sides of the rivulet.

Residents of the constituency have widely welcomed the announcement, noting that the infrastructure upgrade will drastically reduce travel time to neighboring commercial hubs. The local administration has assured the public that a strict quality-monitoring mechanism will be put in place to ensure the project is completed within the stipulated timeline without budget overruns.
