Himachal Pradesh Man Arrested For Alleged Sexual Assault Of Two Minor Nieces

Chamba : In a deeply disturbing incident highlighting the vulnerabilities of minors, the Himachal Pradesh Police have arrested a man in the Chamba district for allegedly sexually assaulting his two minor nieces. The arrest was made following a formal complaint lodged by the family members, who discovered the horrific ordeal the children had been subjected to, officials confirmed on Wednesday.

According to the police, the accused, who is the biological uncle of the victims, allegedly misused his position of trust within the family. The matter came to light when the minor girls, traumatized by the ongoing abuse, finally gathered the courage to narrate their plight to their mother. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the family immediately approached the local police station to report the heinous crime.

Upon receiving the complaint, the Chamba police acted swiftly and registered a case under the stringent provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, alongside relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) pertaining to sexual assault and criminal intimidation. The police immediately formed a team, tracked down the accused, and placed him under arrest.

Superintendent of Police, Chamba, stated that the survivors have been sent for a mandatory medical examination at the district hospital to gather forensic evidence. A specialized team, including women police officers, has been assigned to record the statements of the minor girls in a sensitive environment, ensuring their psychological well-being. The police have produced the accused before a local court, which has remanded him to police custody for further interrogation. Authorities emphasized that a thorough investigation is underway to build a foolproof case, asserting that strict legal action will be ensured to deliver justice swiftly.
