Mumbai:  Alia Bhatt Officially Joins Sohum Shah And Nawazuddin Siddiqui For Tumbbad 2In a major casting announcement, Alia Bhatt has officially joined the cast of the highly anticipated sequel, Tumbbad 2. Producer and actor Sohum Shah confirmed the news on July 14, 2026, welcoming Bhatt to the franchise with a social media post that teased a "new chapter" for the dark fantasy universe.

The film, which also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a pivotal role, is scheduled for a theatrical release on December 3, 2027.

 The announcement comes on the heels of the underwhelming box office performance of Bhatt’s recent spy thriller, Alpha, which has struggled to gain momentum. Despite the recent setback, her entry into the Tumbbad franchise is being viewed as a significant move, marking her first foray into the horror genre in her 14-year career.

 Expressing her excitement, Bhatt shared that she has long admired the work of both Sohum Shah and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. She described the opportunity to join the world of Tumbbad—a story she finds "rich, mysterious, and unforgettable"—as incredibly special.

While plot details are strictly under wraps, reports suggest her role is central to the narrative, with potential for further expansion in a planned third installment.  Directed by Adesh Prasad, the sequel is produced by Sohum Shah Films in association with Pen Studios.

Tumbbad 2 aims to scale up the original's exploration of greed and mythology, centering once again on the malevolent entity Hastar. Fans are eagerly watching to see how this powerful new ensemble cast will shape the next chapter of the acclaimed saga.
