BJP Mahila Morcha Protests in Sirathu: Effigies of Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav Burnt Over 'Nari Shakti' Row

Sirathu, Kaushambi : Tensions flared at the Deviganj intersection in the Sirathu tehsil on Saturday as members of the BJP Mahila Morcha organized a massive "Janakrosh" (public anger) rally. Led by District President Neetu Kanojia, the protesters targeted opposition leaders Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav, accusing them of harboring "anti-women mindsets" regarding the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam (Women's Reservation Act).

Padyatra and Sloganeering
The demonstration saw scores of BJP workers taking to the streets in a Mahila Padyatra. Carrying the national flag and placards, the protesters marched through the Deviganj area, chanting slogans against the Congress and Samajwadi Party leadership. The workers alleged that the opposition is consistently attempting to create hurdles in the path of women's empowerment and the implementation of the landmark reservation act.

Effigies Burnt at Deviganj Crossroad

The protest reached its crescendo at the Deviganj intersection, where:

  • Effigy Burning: Protesters burnt the effigies of Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav to symbolize their rejection of the opposition's stance.
  • Profound Allegations: District President Neetu Kanojia stated that while the Modi government is working to give women their due political rights through the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, the opposition remains focused on regressive politics.
  • Show of Strength: The rally served as a localized show of strength for the BJP, highlighting the party's intent to use women's rights as a central narrative ahead of future political contests.

The protest caused a temporary traffic snarl at the busy intersection, but the message was clear. According to the organizers, the rally was a response to recent statements and actions by opposition leaders which they deemed disrespectful to the dignity of women. Local police were present at the scene to ensure the situation did not escalate further, though the atmosphere remained highly charged with political fervor.
