Mandi House to Host Inaugural ANWO Theatre Festival: A Three-Day Odyssey of Human Emotion
Arts New Way Organisation debuts the 1st ANWO Theatre Festival at Triveni Kala Sangam, featuring six powerful plays and folk dance
New Delhi : The capital’s cultural heartbeat, Mandi House, is set to pulse with a new energy this April. The Arts New Way Organisation (ANWO) has announced the debut of the ‘1st ANWO Theatre Festival,’ a curated three-day celebration of Indian theatrical sensibilities. Scheduled from April 24 to 26, 2026, at the iconic Triveni Kala Sangam, the festival promises to be more than a mere showcase—it is designed as a profound cultural intervention.
Under the guidance of stalwarts Kuldeep Vashishtha, Rizwan Raza, and Guru Dr. Sapan Acharya, the festival aims to bridge the gap between entertainment and social introspection. Each evening, starting at 6:00 PM, the stage will transform into a laboratory of human experience, tackling themes ranging from ancient mythology to modern-day ethical dilemmas.
The festival kicks off on April 24 with Brahmarshi Vishwamitra, a production by ANWO that explores the spiritual and psychological rigor of the legendary sage. The evening shifts gears at 7:30 PM with Fati Hui Shaadi Ki Saari, presented by Barahmasa, offering a nuanced look at domestic complexities.
April 25 promises high-octane drama with Up Stage’s Fire Place. This will be followed by a cornerstone performance of the festival: Shankar Shesh’s Fandi. Directed by R.S. Vikal, this poignant play dives into the controversial and sensitive realm of euthanasia, challenging the audience’s moral compass.
The concluding day, April 26, brings the literary brilliance of Saadat Hasan Manto to the stage with Baanjh, directed by Aarav Vats. The theatrical segment wraps up with Nirmal Verma’s Dedh Inch Upar, a psychological exploration directed by Kuldeep Vashishtha. In a nod to India's diverse heritage, the festival will culminate in a high-energy Gujarati folk dance finale, choreographed by Beena Bansal (Suman).
"This festival is a platform for meaningful dialogue," the organizers noted. By blending contemporary social issues with historical contexts, the ANWO Theatre Festival invites critics and enthusiasts alike to witness the "intellectual depth and social commitment" of the Indian stage.
For theatre lovers in Delhi, these three days offer a rare opportunity to see diverse narratives converge in a single space, reaffirming that the stage remains one of the most powerful mirrors of society.
