Nauni University Invites Applications For Three Month Vocational Wine Making Course

Solan :  In a unique bid to boost self-employment and add value to the region's abundant fruit harvests, Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF) in Nauni has launched a specialized three-month vocational course in wine-making.

The innovative program is tailor-made for rural youth, local fruit growers, and aspiring food-processing entrepreneurs.  

The hands-on curriculum, organized by the Department of Food Science and Technology, promises deep exposure to both the theory and practice of scientific wine production.

Trainees will actively handle key processes, including select fruit preparation, controlled yeast fermentation, maturation, blending, and proper bottling techniques. Crucially, the training integrates essential business aspects like commercial winery setup, hygiene protocols, and marketing.  

According to Vice-Chancellor Prof. H.S. Baweja, transforming excess regional fruit crops into high-value products offers a sustainable shield against post-harvest losses while generating strong local livelihoods.  To maintain quality instruction, the class intake is strictly capped at just 10 participants. Interested candidates who have cleared 10+2 with a minimum of 40% marks can apply. While a basic high-school diploma is the minimum requirement, university graduates and postgraduates will receive preferential consideration during the competitive selection process.  

The one-time admission fee for this comprehensive 12-week course is structured at ₹18,000. Aspirants must submit their completed application forms alongside a ₹100 demand draft and required academic certificates directly to the university campus. The deadline to register is August 8, 2026, with candidate counseling scheduled for August 14, 2026, ahead of classes commencing on August 20, 2026.
