Humility And Duty Earn Trust Says Modi On Historic Milestone

New Delhi :  Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked a historic milestone today, officially becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister by completing 4,399 consecutive days in office. By reaching this landmark, he has surpassed the long-standing record of the nation's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, who served for 4,398 uninterrupted days as the head of an elected government after the historic 1952 general elections.  

Reflecting on the monumental achievement in a post on X, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the core virtues behind democratic longevity. "Public service is the greatest measure of good governance," the Prime Minister wrote, sharing an inspiring Sanskrit verse on leadership. "It is only the individual who works tirelessly with humility, dedication, and a sense of duty who successfully earns the trust of the people."  The unprecedented milestone coincides with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government celebrating 12 highly impactful years of centralized governance.

To honor the leader, the Union Cabinet passed a special celebratory resolution, applauding his "Nation First" resolve. Senior alliance leaders highlighted that Modi's unique political trajectory—rising from a humble, non-dynastic background to leading the world's largest democracy across three successive mandates—reflects the incredible strength and deep social mobility inherent within modern India's democratic framework.  

Global dignitaries, including leaders from Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives, extended heartfelt congratulations, praising his transformative governance that lifted 250 million citizens out of multidimensional poverty. Combining his prior 12-year tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Modi is also rapidly approaching 25 years of continuous service as an elected head of government. The NDA plans a series of developmental initiatives across the country to commemorate this golden chapter, framing it as a profound testament to sustained public faith and democratic stability.
