Sapna Choudhary Gets Interim Court Protection In Domestic Violence Case
Singer Sapna Choudhary receives interim protection from a Delhi court after filing a domestic violence case against her husband.
New Delhi: Delhi court has granted urgent interim protection to popular Haryanvi singer, actor, and former Bigg Boss contestant Sapna Choudhary in a domestic violence case filed against her husband, Yashveer Sahu (also known as Veer Sahu).
The legal relief was issued under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, after the artist approached the Dwarka Mahila Court with allegations of recurring physical abuse.
Judicial Magistrate Nidhi Singh passed a strict restraining order against Sahu, prohibiting him from approaching, contacting, or visiting Choudhary at her current residence or workplace. The singer moved out of her marital home to live with her parents in Najafgarh, submitting an affidavit alongside photographs of alleged bodily injuries and an audio recording in a pen drive to substantiate her claims. Choudhary’s legal counsel, Advocate Preeti Singh, argued that immediate judicial intervention was vital to ensure her client's safety ahead of the grand premiere of her upcoming movie, Momacu, scheduled for June 10, 2026.
The defense expressed strong apprehensions that the respondent might orchestrate a public disturbance, threaten her safety, or interfere with her essential professional commitments, causing irreparable damage to her reputation and personal dignity. Taking note of the electronic evidence and medical records placed on file, the court observed that sufficient grounds existed to issue a summons and provide protective isolation at this preliminary stage.
The magistrate formally instructed the regional Protection Officer and the local Station House Officer (SHO) to strictly enforce the compliance parameters and deliver security assistance to the singer whenever required. The court has granted Sahu time to formally submit his response to the domestic violence charges, scheduling the high-profile matter for a detailed subsequent hearing on July 25, 2026.
