Chief Minister Orders Full Medical College Infrastructure Upgrades By Year End

Shimla :  In a major boost to regional healthcare, the Chief Minister announced a comprehensive directive to upgrade all government medical colleges across the state with world-class facilities and modern equipment by the end of this year. The ambitious initiative aims to bridge infrastructural gaps, elevate patient care, and bring local state-run medical facilities on par with apex national institutions.

 Presiding over a high-level review meeting of the Health Department, the Chief Minister instructed administrative officers to fast-track ongoing healthcare projects. To ensure citizens receive advanced diagnostic facilities closer to home, the state government has already sanctioned over 75 crore rupees to establish state-of-the-art testing laboratories across multiple government medical colleges

. Key institutions in Tanda, Hamirpur, and Shimla are scheduled to receive advanced specialized equipment, including high-tech PET scan machinery, to eliminate long wait times for critical cancer and diagnostic screenings.

 Addressing the persistent challenge of human resource shortages, the Chief Minister confirmed that thousands of vacancies within the health department are actively being filled. Hundreds of new paramedical positions and tech assistants have been approved to handle the incoming technical infrastructure smoothly.  Beyond patient treatment, the overhaul significantly emphasizes medical education quality.

 The Chief Minister proposed capping student batches at a manageable 60-student limit to offer a more focused, practical learning environment. New lecture halls, multi-purpose examination spaces, and critical care units are being financed directly through newly allocated state funds. Government bodies have been given a strict year-end timeline to complete all installations and physical structures, ensuring decentralized, high-tier healthcare becomes a reality for every citizen before the year wraps up.
