Delhi Police File Case After Senior Officer Injured In Jantar Mantar Violence

New Delhi : Police has registered a formal case following a violent clash near Jantar Mantar and Tolstoy Marg that left Connaught Place Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Vivek Bhagat and several other police personnel injured during the ongoing Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) demonstrations.  

According to official medical reports from Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital, where ACP Bhagat was initially rushed, the officer sustained swelling over the back of his head, multiple severe bruises across his upper and lower limbs, and reported instances of ear bleeding following sudden stone-pelting by miscreants.

Following initial emergency evaluation, the officer was transferred to AIIMS, New Delhi, for advanced medical treatment. Other officers, including ACP Jai Prakash and Inspector Nand Kishore, also suffered injuries while attempting to stop crowd advancement toward restricted parliamentary zones.  The First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged under relevant sections covering rioting, assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of duty, and damaging public property.

Investigators are actively analyzing over 250 CCTV feeds, facial recognition inputs, and mobile video recordings to identify individuals responsible for throwing stones and glass bottles at deployed police units. 

While the CJP leadership claimed that political provocateurs and outside elements orchestrated the violence to discredit their peaceful agitation against national paper leaks, law enforcement officials maintained that anti-social groups took advantage of crowd density to attack security forces. Security arrangements across the New Delhi district remain heavily fortified to prevent further law-and-order disruptions.
