Delhi Lieutenant Governor Honours Greater Kailash-I With Prestigious Cleanest Police Station Award

New Delhi:  Lieutenant Governor Sardar Taranjit Singh Sandhu officially presented the highly coveted "Cleanest Police Station Award" to the Greater Kailash-I (GK-I) police station. The prestigious honor was conferred during the grand Delhi Police Commissionerate Day Parade held at the central grounds, recognizing the station’s exceptional dedication to institutional hygiene, eco-friendly green initiatives, and outstanding civic upkeep.

Accompanied by Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora, Lieutenant Governor Sandhu handed over the trophy and commendation certificate to the station management team. The annual evaluation framework comprehensively assesses urban police stations across multiple operational parameters, including records digitisation, civic public-amenity infrastructure, zero-waste management setups, and the overall cleanliness of the holding premises.

Addressing the gathered personnel at the parade, LG Sandhu heavily lauded the station’s leadership for establishing a benchmark model of administrative excellence. He noted that transforming local police setups into highly hygienic, welcoming, and citizen-friendly spaces is essential to building lasting public trust and ensuring transparent community policing. "A clean working environment directly reflects a disciplined, proactive, and citizen-centric police force," Sandhu remarked during his keynote address.

The Greater Kailash-I police station secured the top spot following an extensive citywide multi-stage audit conducted by an independent screening committee. The facility stands out for its unique rain-water harvesting infrastructure, beautifully manicured green lawns, solar energy integration, and separate, highly hygienic desk facilities specifically allocated for women and senior citizens.

Expressing gratitude for the state-level recognition, the station staff credited their success to consistent teamwork, regular sanitisation schedules, and active partnerships with local Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) and market bodies. The Lieutenant Governor urged other urban administrative hubs across the National Capital Territory to replicate the GK-I model to enhance the capital’s civic landscape.
