Sirmaur District Crosses Rs 3200 Crore Exports And Charts Global Trade Roadmap
Sirmaur district surpasses 3,200 crore rupees in exports, charting a global roadmap for its pharmaceutical, textile, and agricultural sectors.
Nahan : Solidifying its position as one of Himachal Pradesh's fastest-growing manufacturing powerhouses, Sirmaur district has officially crossed the landmark 3,200 crore rupee export threshold. The economic achievement has triggered an ambitious global growth roadmap designed to aggressively scale up regional manufacturing and introduce local agricultural assets to international markets.
The new policy framework was formalized during a high-profile meeting of the District Export Promotion Committee, presided over by Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Verma. To sustain this upward fiscal trajectory, Verma directed various line departments to actively identify budding entrepreneurs, streamline regulatory roadblocks, and build robust digital clearance infrastructures to ease cross-border logistics.
Official economic indicators highlight an impressive expansion path, with export revenues rising sharply from over 2,097 crore rupees in fiscal year 2021-22 to approximately 3,200 crore rupees.
The industrial engine driving this massive growth remains rooted in major manufacturing clusters located across Kala Amb, Paonta Sahib, Dhaula Kuan, and the expanding Sataun industrial corridor. While advanced pharmaceuticals dominate the district's export volume alongside textiles, engineering equipment, and consumer appliances, the administration is now looking to diversify its trading portfolio.
A major element of the new economic roadmap involves the international commercialization of premium mountain horticulture and traditional Geographical Indication (GI) tagged crafts. High-value produce from Rajgarh—famously dubbed the "Peach Bowl of India"—alongside plums, garlic, and low-fiber ginger are being prepared for target processing zones.
Concurrently, the iconic "Sirmauri Loiya" handwoven attire is receiving structured supply-chain backing to tap into global apparel lines. To anchor these incoming investments, the local government has already submitted a formal proposal to the Centre to develop a sprawling 388-bigha industrial estate at Kala Amb under the Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojna.
