Ram Temple Trust Convenes Crucial Ayodhya Meeting To Finalize Key Reforms After Theft Scandal

Ayodhya : The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust convened a critical meeting in Ayodhya on Wednesday to finalize administrative restructuring, review findings from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe, and deliberate on key leadership appointments following the recent donation theft controversy.

The high-level session, chaired by Trust President Mahant Nritya Gopal Das at Maniram Das Chhawani, follows the resignations of former General Secretary Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra during an earlier assembly. Acting General Secretary Krishna Mohan issued the meeting agenda, prioritizing the official confirmation of prior proceedings, the appointment of the temple body's first Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and the selection of new permanent trustees.

Trustees also evaluated the ongoing police and SIT investigation into the theft of cash and valuable offerings from temple donation boxes. Authorities have arrested eight individuals so far, while law enforcement agencies continue examining financial records and recovering stolen assets. In response to the breach, the Trust has already overhauled its cash-counting operations by handing over direct oversight to the State Bank of India (SBI) and implementing a two-shift, double-layer security protocol involving physical frisking and armed surveillance.

The meeting further addressed organizational restructuring across sub-committees responsible for asset management, security audits, and devotee facilitation. Trust officials emphasized that institutional reforms and digital inventory tracking systems will be mandated to rebuild public trust, safeguard religious offerings, and maintain complete transparency in managing temple funds going forward.
