Comedian Pranit More Apologizes Over Controversial '₹370 Biryani' Video

Mumbai:  Breaking his silence after intense social media backlash, stand-up comedian Pranit More released a formal video apology on Saturday regarding the controversial "₹370 biryani" crowd-work video. Addressing his followers on Instagram, More admitted to a severe lapse in judgment during his Gurugram show, stating that he rightly deserves the public criticism and hate directed toward him.

The controversy erupted earlier this week when More shared a snippet of crowd interaction featuring an audience member named Himanshu Jangra. In the clip, Jangra recounted a date where he spent ₹370 on a plate of chicken biryani for a woman. He heavily implied that because he paid for the meal, he was entitled to physical intimacy, detailing how he subsequently coerced her. Instead of calling out the problematic behavior, More laughed, labeled it "peak Gurgaon content," and rewarded the man with a ₹5,000 cash prize.

"I wanted to say this for a long time, but my Instagram account was suspended," More said in his video statement. "You all might have seen my crowd work, because of which I am receiving a lot of hate. And I feel that I probably deserve this hate." The comedian confessed that he got carried away by the live audience's laughter instead of taking a stand.

"I could have stopped him right there, but I gave him a platform which escalated the situation. I want to apologize to everyone who got hurt because of this."  The viral clip triggered national outrage regarding public safety and consent, resulting in Jangra losing his corporate job. Furthermore, the Maharashtra Police registered an FIR against both Jangra and More for promoting obscene content. More concluded his video by promising to work on better content and requesting a second chance from the public while confirming his absolute cooperation with legal authorities.
