Awarapan Two Teaser Out: Emraan Hashmi Returns To Haunted Past

Mumbai : Marking exactly 19 years since the release of the 2007 cult classic Awarapan, production banner Vishesh Films officially dropped the highly anticipated teaser for its sequel, Awarapan 2.

The first look confirms that the romantic action-thriller kicks off exactly where the original emotional saga left its audience, directly addressing the lingering grief surrounding the tragic fate of Shivam Pandit’s true love.  The haunting teaser opens with Emraan Hashmi reprising his iconic role as a rugged, older Shivam Pandit, seen riding a motorcycle across a barren desert landscape.

In a powerful nod to the original film’s heartbreaking climax, the opening sequence features Shivam paying an emotional tribute and placing a fresh rose at the grave of his slain lover, Aaliyah Hamid, originally played by Shriya Saran. To elevate the overwhelming sense of nostalgia for longtime fans, a melancholic, newly rearranged rendition of the chart-busting track Toh Phir Aao plays softly in the background.  While delivering a gritty voiceover, Emraan’s character reflects on his perpetual suffering, stating,

"Dard se purana rishta hai mera" (I have an old relationship with pain). The video gradually shifts into high-octane gears, showing glimpses of heavy hand-to-hand combat as Shivam confronts a massive, dangerous new criminal syndicate operating in Southeast Asia.

The teaser also introduces Bollywood star Disha Patani playing a violin in a mysterious sequence and veteran actor Shabana Azmi as the primary antagonist, Nafisa.  Directed by Nitin Kakkar and written by Bilal Siddiqui, the long-awaited sequel promises to expand the complex gangster universe while strictly preserving the deep soul, layered storytelling, and musical magic of the 2007 film. Awarapan 2 is locked and officially scheduled to hit global theatres on August 14, 2026.
