Police launch investigation in Mandi after a father alleges seventeen youths held his two minor sons captive and assaulted them.
Mandi : Police authorities in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district have launched an investigation following a complaint by a local resident alleging that a group of 17 youths unlawfully detained and assaulted his two minor sons.
According to the complaint filed at the local police station, the incident occurred when the two boys were intercepted by the group while returning home. The father alleged that the suspects forcibly took the minors to an isolated location, held them captive for several hours, and subjected them to physical assault over a minor personal dispute.
The victimized minors managed to inform their family after being released, following which they were taken to a nearby government medical facility for examination and treatment of injuries. Based on the formal statement recorded by the complainant and preliminary medical reports, law enforcement officials registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) covering illegal confinement, voluntary causation of hurt, and criminal intimidation, along with relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act or juvenile protection protocols depending on the victims' ages.
Senior police officers confirmed that multi-pronged efforts are underway to identify and apprehend all individuals involved in the incident. Police teams are scanning local surveillance footage, analyzing mobile location data, and recording statements from potential eyewitnesses in the vicinity.
The police administration assured the family of a fair and thorough investigation, emphasizing that strict legal action will be taken against those found guilty of subjecting minors to violence and illegal restraint.
