Vinay Katiyar Claims Champat Rai And Anil Mishra Could Face Imminent Arrest
BJP leader Vinay Katiyar claimed that former Ram Mandir trust officials Champat Rai and Anil Mishra could face imminent jail time.
Ayodhya : In a highly dramatic political turn within the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), veteran leader and Bajrang Dal founder Vinay Katiyar on Friday publicly asserted that top former officials of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust could be sent to jail.
Katiyar specifically named former General Secretary Champat Rai, former Trustee Anil Mishra, and administrator Gopal Rao, stating that they face potential arrest due to their suspected connection with massive financial irregularities and donation theft at the Ayodhya temple.
Speaking to reporters regarding the expanding embezzlement scandal, Katiyar confirmed that he has directly discussed the gravity of the financial fraud with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "It is absolutely clear that the sacred money donated by millions of devotees has been siphoned off," Katiyar stated directly. "When I spoke to Modi ji about this sensitive matter, he inquired about the future course of action. I assured him that justice will prevail and everything will turn out fine, but there is a strong possibility that Champat Rai, Gopal Rao, and Anil Mishra could find themselves behind bars in the coming days."
The shocking internal critique from a prominent right-wing pioneer comes at a time when the Uttar Pradesh government’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) has secured a critical 15-day extension to broaden its ongoing anti-corruption inquiry.
In tandem, the local Ayodhya police have intensified their enforcement actions, actively interrogating a key accused official, Avinash Shukla, who was linked to the inner core team responsible for counting the physical cash and precious offerings at the Ram Mandir.
The high-profile donation scandal initially came to light when an FIR was officially registered on June 25, alleging widespread theft of public contributions. Following heavy public scrutiny, both Champat Rai and Anil Mishra had stepped down from their administrative positions, citing moral responsibility.
