Delhi Police Refutes Viral Claims Of Using Pellet Guns Against Student Protesters

New Delhi : The Delhi Police and the Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check unit have dismissed viral social media claims alleging that security personnel used pellet guns and nail-studded batons against student protesters in the national capital.  The clarification was issued following a wave of viral posts and video clips circulated on social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), by opposition spokespersons and student groups. The circulating posts alleged that law enforcement agencies used pellet ammunition and modified weapons during the "Chalo Sansad" demonstration organized over competitive examination paper leaks and educational reform demands.

 Rebutting the allegations, Delhi Police posted a "Fake News Alert" across its official social media handles, emphasizing that the force does not equip its personnel with pellet guns. Official spokespersons stated that reports claiming the deployment of pellet guns or lethal crowd-control measures against peaceful demonstrators are completely false, fabricated, and misleading.

The PIB Fact Check unit similarly labeled the viral media as unverified and manipulated.  Law enforcement authorities cautioned the public against sharing or recirculating unverified video content, warning that strict legal action under digital communication and public order laws will be initiated against individuals or accounts spreading rumors to cause panic.

The police administration urged citizens to rely solely on authenticated government channels and official bulletins for accurate information regarding ongoing security operations in the capital.
