Devastated Father Alleges Fatal Boarding School Negligence Led to Son’s Tragic Death
A grieving father demands accountability, claiming severe administrative and medical negligence at a boarding school caused his son's untimely demise.
Dehradun : A grieving father has filed a formal police complaint alleging that gross administrative negligence and a lack of timely medical intervention by boarding school authorities led to the death of his teenage son in the institution's hostel.
The complainant stated that his fourteen-year-old son, a residential student at a prominent private school, had been suffering from high fever and severe abdominal pain for days. According to the father, hostel wardens repeatedly dismissed the boy's worsening symptoms as minor exhaustion, prescribing basic over-the-counter pain relievers instead of consulting a qualified medical practitioner.
The situation turned fatal when the student's condition deteriorated drastically overnight. The family claims they were only notified after their son had lost consciousness, long after the window for critical medical intervention had closed. By the time the youth was finally rushed to a nearby hospital, doctors declared him dead on arrival, citing advanced infection and severe dehydration as the preliminary causes.
"They took our money and promised safety, but they locked my boy away in a room and ignored his cries for help," the distraught father told reporters outside the police station. "We were kept completely in the dark until it was too late."
Law enforcement officials have registered a case of causing death by negligence against the school management and hostel staff. Investigators have already seized the hostel’s medical logbooks and are reviewing CCTV footage to verify the timeline of events.
The school administration issued a brief statement expressing condolences but maintained that standard operating procedures were followed. Meanwhile, local student welfare groups have launched protests, demanding immediate structural reforms, mandatory full-time medical staff in all residential facilities, and a transparent inquiry into the tragedy.
